Repair before replace

Repair, upgrade, keep it going.

Often the best computer is the one you already own. It may only need the right part, a careful clean-up or a sensible upgrade.

Data recovery

Don’t worry. Your photos and files may not be gone.

A dead laptop does not always mean dead data. Deleted files, removed drives and some corrupted storage may still offer a path forward. The first careful decision can make a real difference.

Accidentally deleted something? Stop using the device.

Normal use can write new information over the files you want back. Shut the computer down and avoid experimenting with recovery software until we have assessed it.

01

Stop using it

Power the device down so ordinary use cannot overwrite deleted or damaged data.

02

Check what happened

Dropped drives can sometimes be saved, but repeated attempts may make physical damage worse. I’ll assess the safest option first.

03

Recover what we can

Recovery may be complete or partial. If the drive needs specialist laboratory work, I can explain that option and refer you to the right service.

04

Protect it next time

I can consolidate your files onto a second drive and set up automatic backups to reduce the chance of another painful loss.

Meet Matt

Curious about technology. Serious about helping people.

I’ve been building, pulling apart and repairing computers since I was young. Today that experience spans home technology, websites, festival IT and long-range Wi-Fi, including payment systems, security cameras, electronics projects and 3D printing.

What matters most is making technology less frustrating. If you want a plain-language explanation or a sensible repair before replacement, I can take the time to show you how it works.

Thursday community electronics

Each Thursday afternoon, we host a homeschool technology group where young people build electronic projects, wire and program microcontrollers, experiment with Meshtastic devices, explore solar power and learn by making things together.

Curious adults and young people are welcome to get involved. It is an open, friendly community for every skill level.

Tell me what’s happening

Not sure what kind of help you need?

That’s completely fine. Describe the problem in your own words and include a photo if it helps. I’ll review it and suggest the next sensible step.

Service request

Tell Matt what’s going on.

Share as much as you know. You don’t need to use technical language. Matt personally reviews every request before any work begins.
